An experience may be over, but reminders can still bring a strong emotional or physical response.
You may understand what happened and still notice avoidance, tension, or beliefs about yourself that are hard to shift.
Therapy can give you space to explore what feels manageable before deciding whether memory processing is right for you.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured psychotherapy used for trauma-related distress, including PTSD. During processing, a therapist may guide eye movements or another form of alternating stimulation while you attend to aspects of a memory.
Your therapist begins with your history, goals, and readiness. Preparation and coping resources are part of the work. You can ask questions, discuss concerns, and pause; you do not need to rush into a difficult memory at the first visit.
Nuvitru therapists work with you to explore whether EMDR is an appropriate approach. Together, you can decide whether EMDR, talk therapy, or a combination fits your needs. There is no fixed number of sessions that works for everyone.

Hi, I am Ally Hoffman Scott, MA, LPC. My work is shaped by professional training and by my own lived experience with PCOS, mental health challenges, therapy, relationships, and the importance of steady support.
Healing is messy and human, so my approach is eclectic and person-centered. I integrate solution-focused work, attachment-informed care, neurofeedback, CRM, EMDR, and somatic practices based on what each person needs.
Together, we create a plan that helps you reconnect with your body, your nervous system, and your authentic self. I bring gentle challenge, practical tools, and space to slow down, tune in, and show up more fully.
