Food & health anxiety therapy

Food & health anxiety therapy.
More room for living. Less room for worry.

When meals, symptoms, or thoughts about your health take up more space than you want, support can help you explore the worry without dismissing what you are experiencing.

A place to begin

You do not have to
have it all figured out.

Food choices feel loaded

You spend a lot of time worrying about eating the wrong thing, following health rules perfectly, or how a meal might make you feel.

You keep checking for certainty

Searching symptoms, monitoring your body, or asking for reassurance can leave you feeling caught in a loop.

Health takes over the conversation

Appointments, test results, and conflicting wellness advice may make it harder to focus on the parts of life that matter to you.

How we approach food & health anxiety

Care for the worry, while respecting your health.

We start with your experience: what you fear, what you do to feel safer, and how the worry affects your day. You do not have to prove that your concerns are real or arrive with a particular diagnosis to ask about support.

Therapy can create space to explore uncertainty, rigid expectations, and the emotional impact of managing health concerns. Your therapist can help you discuss coping and responses to worry, with goals and pacing chosen together.

At Nuvitru, mental health and nutrition care can work together with your permission. A therapist supports the emotional and behavioral side; a dietitian or medical clinician addresses nutrition or medical needs within their role. Therapy does not mean ignoring symptoms, stopping medically necessary care, or challenging a confirmed food allergy.

Part of your whole health

Care that sees
more of the picture.

Mental health belongs in the conversation about your wellbeing. Stress, sleep, relationships, physical symptoms, and daily habits can all shape what life feels like.

Your therapy can stand alone. If you also receive nutrition or other care at Nuvitru, we can discuss collaboration with your permission. Your therapist focuses on mental health, while other clinicians work within their own roles.

One place to ask for support. No requirement to add other services.

A few things
you might be wondering.

Does food anxiety mean I have an eating disorder?

Not necessarily. Food-related distress can have different explanations. Tell us about restriction, avoidance, or other eating concerns so we can discuss the right level of support, including specialist care when needed.

Can I get support while managing a real health condition?

Yes, you can ask about support for the worry alongside a health condition. Your therapist will discuss fit and how care can complement recommendations from your treating clinicians.

Will I be told that my symptoms are just anxiety?

The goal is to understand your experience, not dismiss it. New, persistent, or changing symptoms should be discussed with an appropriate medical clinician.

Is this a specialist eating-disorder treatment program?

This page describes therapy support for food and health anxiety, not a specialist eating-disorder program. Some eating concerns need coordinated medical, nutritional, and specialist mental health care; we will discuss appropriate referrals when needed.

How much does a therapy session cost?

A 50-minute therapy session is $155. Therapy can be booked on its own; a Nuvitru care program is not required.

Do you accept insurance?

Therapy at Nuvitru is self-pay. You pay Nuvitru directly, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Is reimbursement guaranteed?

No. Coverage, deductibles, eligible services, and reimbursement amounts depend on your plan. Check your out-of-network mental health benefits with your insurer before booking.
