These Lab Testing Terms apply when you purchase functional laboratory testing through Nuvitru Wellness LLC — including comprehensive stool testing, DUTCH hormone testing, micronutrient testing, MRT food sensitivity testing, environmental toxin/mycotoxin testing, and blood work — whether as a standalone purchase or as part of a program.
9.1 What Functional Lab Testing Is (and Isn't)
Functional lab tests are wellness assessments used by our team to understand patterns in your physiology and to personalize nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. They are not medical diagnostic tests, and results do not constitute a medical diagnosis. "Out of optimal range" on a functional report is not the same as a disease diagnosis, and "in range" does not rule disease out. Only a licensed physician can diagnose or treat a medical condition. If your results suggest something that warrants medical evaluation, we will tell you and encourage you to follow up with your physician — please take that referral seriously.
9.2 Ordering and Authorization
Where required by law, tests are ordered under the authorization of a licensed provider affiliated with Nuvitru or the laboratory's physician network. Some tests are unavailable in certain states (for example, certain direct-to-consumer restrictions in NY, NJ, and RI) — we will tell you before purchase if your state is affected, and eligibility depends on the laws of the state where you are located at collection.
9.3 Specimen Collection
Most kits are collected at home (stool, urine, dried blood spot, saliva) per the instructions included in your kit; some tests require a blood draw at a partner draw site at your own scheduling and, where disclosed, an additional draw fee. Follow the collection, timing (including cycle-day timing for hormone tests), medication/supplement hold, and shipping instructions exactly — improper collection is the most common cause of rejected or inaccurate samples. Samples rejected due to collection error may require a repurchase per the Refund + Cancellation Policy.
9.4 Results and Interpretation
Results are typically available 2–6 weeks after the lab receives your specimen, depending on the test. Results are released with a scheduled interpretation session or written review by your Nuvitru practitioner — this interpretation is part of the service, and results should not be acted upon without it. We do not provide standalone lab results for self-treatment. Reference and "optimal" ranges reflect the functional-medicine model and may differ from conventional lab ranges.
9.5 Limitations
No laboratory test is perfectly accurate. Results reflect a single point in time and can be affected by diet, stress, illness, medications, supplements, and collection technique. Food sensitivity testing in particular is a screening tool used to guide elimination protocols — it is not an allergy test and cannot detect anaphylactic (IgE) allergies. Never use our testing to make decisions about known allergies, prescription medications, or emergency symptoms.
9.6 Third-Party Laboratories
Testing is performed by independent CLIA-certified laboratories. Nuvitru is not the laboratory and is not responsible for laboratory errors, delays, or data practices, though we will advocate for you in resolving issues. Your specimen and data are also subject to the laboratory's own terms and privacy policy, which we can provide on request.
9.7 Your Data
Lab results are consumer health data handled per our Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice. We share your information with the laboratory only as needed to fulfill your order, and results are returned to your care team and stored in your client record.
9.8 Pricing and Refunds
Test prices are disclosed at purchase and may bundle laboratory fees, kit shipping, and practitioner interpretation. Refunds follow §8.4 of the Refund + Cancellation Policy.
